About Jewels of Color, Inc.
Our HerStory.
Jewels of Color, Inc. was established in Orlando, Florida on March 25, 2017, and officially incorporated on January 26, 2018.
We began as a small collective of women deeply committed to supporting women and children in our community. What started as acts of service, adopting families during the holidays, providing blankets and hot chocolate to those experiencing housing insecurity, and delivering meals to individuals who were sick and shut in. Quickly we became something more.
Through our monthly meetings, outreach efforts, and direct connection with the families we served, we began to see the deeper impact of our work. When mothers were supported, when they had access to resources, community, and care, the weight they carried began to shift. Stress was reduced. Hope was restored. And in turn, their children experienced greater stability, care, and emotional support.
Over time, it became clear that while immediate needs were important, there was a deeper and more urgent need to address the mental and emotional well-being of both mothers and children. We saw firsthand the realities many families face: chronic stress, limited access to mental health care, and the ways these challenges impact not only parents, but also the emotional health and academic outcomes of their children.
In response, Jewels of Color, Inc. evolved.
We expanded our focus to intentionally support the mental health and well-being of mothers and children, recognizing that when families are supported holistically, communities are strengthened.
Today, our mission is to empower mothers and their children to thrive by providing emotional wellness support and access to community-based resources. We aim to support opportunities for families to feel affirmed in their dignity, supported in their growth, and empowered to shine.
